Former Monaville resident, Willis Meade! My name is Willis Meade and I lived in Monaville from about 1939 to 1942. My father was the mine forman at the # 11 coal mine and the superintendent was a man by the name of Nick Bensen. As I remember, the mine worked out and closed down in 1942 and we moved to what was then called "main Holden". We lived over on "the hill" in Monaville (Monahill). The families that lived near me were the Whites, the Baldwins, the Kenners, and the Bensens. Picture (left to right): Nicky Bensen, Clyde (my brother), Bobby Bensen, Jimmy Bensen, and I am the one in the middle holding the puppy. I was probably about 12 or 13 years old at the time. I am currently 77 years old and have lived here in Brooksville, Florida for 17 years.
